Questions people actually ask
Is this live Indian Railways data?
No — not in this build. Station and train identities are real, but running positions, delays, seat availability and PNR records are generated by TrainLive. The data-sources page spells out exactly which fields are which.
Can I book a ticket here?
No. TrainLive is a lookup tool. Book through IRCTC or an authorised agent.
Why does my PNR show passengers I do not recognise?
Because the PNR record is derived from the digits you typed, not from a booking system. It is a demonstration of the screen, not your booking.
Why does a search return no trains?
The timetable only carries a set of services, and a train only matches if it stops at both stations in that order. Reversing the direction usually finds the paired service.
How accurate are the fares?
The structure is right — base by class and distance, plus reservation, superfast, catering and GST where they apply — but the per-km rates are our own. Treat the numbers as indicative.
Do alerts actually notify me?
Not yet. You can create delay, platform-change, boarding, destination, PNR and cancellation alerts and they are stored against your account, but no push or SMS credential is configured, so nothing is dispatched. The features page marks this honestly.
Is there a paid plan?
Plans are defined, but no payment gateway is connected, so checkout stops before any money moves. Nothing is charged.
What do you store about me?
For lookups, nothing personal. If you sign in, we store your phone number, name, and whatever you save — PNRs, trains, stations, journeys and alerts.
Is there an API?
Yes, under /api. Public lookups are rate-limited; account endpoints need a Sanctum bearer token from phone + OTP sign-in.
